velocita intere salita/piano/discesa

full speed up/down/down

An automobile model is tested on some 600-meter-long closed circuits, consisting of up- and down-level tracks. All up and down tracts have the same slope. The tests highlight some curious facts: (a) the speed of the model depends only on the fact that the machine is going up, down or down; calling respectively vs, vp and vd these three speeds, we have vs < vp < vd; (b) vs, vp and vd, expressed in meters per second, are integers; (c) however the circuit is composed (with more or less up and down) the travel time is always 50 seconds. Find all possible values of vs, vp and vd.

We know that for every finite set A of consecutive integers, the absolute value of the difference between the number of red integers and the number of blue integers in the set A is at most 1000. Demonstrate that there is a set of 2000 consecutive integers among which there are exactly 1000 red numbers and 1000 blue numbers.

BAC < 60o, sia D il punto su AC tale che
DBC =

  • for which the strategy works*

Two magicians perform in the following issue. At first, the first magician locks the second magician in a cabin where he can’t see or hear anything. To start the game, the first magician invites Daniel, a member of the audience, to put on each box of a chessboard a white or black board at his discretion. Then he asks Daniel to point him to a box C of his choice. At this point, the first magician chooses a box D (not necessarily different from C) and replaces the pedina on D with one of the other color (white with black or black with white). Then the cabin where the second magician was locked is opened. Looking at the chessboard, the second magician can guess what box C is. Which of the two magicians can implement a strategy that their numbers always succeed?
